Buying furniture is a BIG deal.  Expensive.  Long lasting.  Yes, it's a huge decision.

One of the most-used furnishings in a home is the sofa.  (And one
that wears out the fastest.)  If you're thinking of replacing a sofa or
chair there's another option you might consider:  slipcovers!

Here's one of the most amazing things
about slipcovers - you can do it yourself!

The owner of this ottoman wanted a different look:

She made a slipcover out of material
from a fabric sample book.

Yawn.  Another boring ottoman:
The new slipcover is a real pick-me-up:

Snazzy!

The arm chair, below, was a little dated:
Custom slipcovers fixed that right up:

The owners really liked the nautical look of their tired sofa:
So they went with the same color slip
covers to give it a fresh, crisp look.

I don't have a photo of these chairs before they were covered with
slip covers but you can see how they compliment this living room:

Slip covers make these two chairs look so sophisticated:

Well fitting slip covers will make you think
the chair has been upholstered.

Who says you can't have two slipcovers for one chair?
The white twill looks more formal
than the beige linen, don't you think?

Another thrift shop treasure was given a second life:

A washable slipcover was the perfect solution
to protect a light-colored winged back:

Yikes!  This swivel chair was in sad shape:
A homemade slipcover gave it a fashionable, extended life:

This wing back certainly has an interesting shape
and is living room-ready with it's new slipcover:

Pottery Barn sells this drape drop cloth slipcover for $99:
But you can buy a 12' x 15' lightweight canvas
drop cloth at Lowe's for less than $32!

I'm going to close with today's Best Before & After project:

This sweet chair was bought for $1 at auction!

Less than $5 in materials makes it looks like a million bucks!

If you've never sewn a slip cover don't be afraid to
jump in with both feet and create a brand new look.

There are umpteen gillion websites with easy to follow tutorials
to help get you started.  Sounds like a fun weekend to me!
