How in this world did Friday get here so quickly?!

Seriously, this week has flown by.  Let's catch our breaths
while viewing some inspiring Before and After projects.

A $6.99 rocker at Goodwill:

. . . . is now a valued family treasure:

This little chair was literally all to pieces:
Brunswick Reupholstering
We have a Winner!

A family's dog chewed up the foam seat of this
reproduction Queen Anne wingback:
I hope he's seen the error of his ways.

Design Sponge
The two elements that make this project such a success are the
black lacquered paint and the refreshing contemporary fabric.

Country Living online recently showcased some
dramatic small kitchen make overs:

The magnificent stove deserved a beautiful
kitchen and, boy, did it get one.

 Gloomy, gloomy, gloomy:

Ah, so pretty and simple now:

Painted cabinets, stainless steel appliances, a new light fixture
and re-stained floors completely changed this kitchen:

A Canadian couple restored the bathroom in their
MidCentury Modern rancher back to its original state:

Apartment Therapy
The original blue and white wall tiles were still in
place and they were able to march the floor tiles.
LOVE the reproduction photo above the loo!

Let's switch gears and look at some much bigger projects.

A 1930s Art Deco apartment building in the Laurel Heights
area of San Francisco was given a surprisingly modern facelift:

As beautiful as this renovation turned out, I truly wish they had
restored the simple and elegant building back to its original design.

Very rarely do I write off a home as beyond saving
but I'd be tempted to throw in the towel on this one:

For these next two renovations, it might have
been less work to build completely new homes:

You'd think that it would be impossible to
change the profile of a split-level home:

But, they did it:

We're going to close with an oldie but a goldie -
This Old House's 2009 Reader Remodel Winner:

It looks too perfect - almost like a Hollywood set.
And what happened to the trees?!

Have a great weekend and keep an eye out for a B&A project of your own.

  1. Love that black lacquered chair with cobalt/white...that is stunning!
    Have a wonderful weekend, Jan.

  2. I especially like the kitchens and the baths. Wow! I so need a do-over bath. I still have the same yuck green tile. Happy Weekend!

  3. Love the six dollar god well chair renovation Wow!

  4. Beautiful and amazing make-overs. Makes me want to run to Goodwill to search for a chair in need of love.
