Reclaimed Ruins

Sitting on a mountainside near Linescio, Switzerland,
sits the abandoned ruins of a 200 year old cottage.  Not!

Yes, the structure does sit on the side of a mountain;
yes, it is over 200 years old; but abandoned?  Hardly.

Working with the Swiss architetural firm Buchner Brundler
Arhitekten, a determined couple purchased the property and
built a modern minimalist summer retreat inside the ruins.

 Yup.  That's minimalist.

Using concrete and local natural rock for reinforcement
the designers of the interior structure kept efficiency and
ecological impact their top priorities.  With such inner strength
this cottage will easily stand for another 200 years
