Imitation is the highest form of flattery?

Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) did not start painting
until his late twenties and completed his most famous
works during the last two years of his life.

One of the most prolific Post Impressionists, Van Gogh produced
more than 2,100 artworks including 860 oil paintings and more
than 1,300 watercolors, drawings and sketches in less than 10 years.

Maybe he ran out of ideas and turned to other artists for
inspiration.  I'm sure the descendants of Millet and Dalou wish
the originals were as valuable as Van Gogh's imitations.
