Today marks a sad day in clown history.  On this date in 1956 the official Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus gave their last performance under a tent.  In 1957 John Ringling North, nephew of John Ringling, made the corporate decision to use existing venues, such as sports stadiums, instead of the labor intensive tents.

Maybe it's the mystique of circus lore but, for whatever
reason, we're still in love with the idea of the Big Top.

  1. My grandson has a circus themed nursery/bedroom and has framed postcards of Barnum and Bailey circus they look really effective.
