Sadly, the majority of dilapidated old treasures are never restored
to their former glory. Here are two photographs of the same street
in Detroit; the top one was taken in the 1920s and the bottom one
was taken last year:

There is nothing nicer than to see a house brought back to its former glory, such a tragic loss when buildings are left to rot.

The x was an arch/developer so I understand a lot of what is going on here.

One of my favorites was the after golden/orange small home with the dramatic pillars.

It is almost unbelievable what beautiful homes were to come from the "ugly ducklings". I saw more than a couple that I wouldn't mind touring.
