Today is the first day of Winter!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Winter White is one of the most charming decorating schemes,
almost fairytale-like in it's simplicity and purity.

Silver and cream accessories compliment any color scheme
but are outstanding when coupled with white.

Wouldn't you love to have a guest house,
especially this time of year?

A couple took their rough, detached garage and turned it
into a beautiful and welcoming guest cottage.
How honored would you feel by the special
Christmas touches they included?

Speaking of special touches . . . . . . .

Looking for a simple craft project?

Luminaries!

You can use old glasses you already have or go by the thrift shop
and pick some up - usually for less than a dollar.
They don't even have to match.

In addition to the glasses, you'll need Krylon 'snow'
spray paint, yarn, and masking tape.

Cut the yarn into 2 or 3 foot lengths, tape one end to the bottom of the glass, randomly wrap the yarn around the glass, ending at the top.  Tape that end to the inside top of the glass.   Note:  Stuff newspaper inside of the glass before spraying.

Holding the paint about a foot away, spray each glass in short bursts, turning the glass as  you go.   Allow to completely dry then, starting at the top, slowly unwind the yarn.  Drop in a votive and remember to use the long fireplace matches to light them.

Another take on the luminary idea is to use Mason jars and just glue on doilies.
These also make FABULOUS gift ideas!

The simplest touches can dramatically change a presentation.

Example:  plain votive

Glue cinnamon sticks to the votive holders
and you've completely transformed the little lights!

Trying to think of a gift for that hard-to-shop-for friend or relative?
Consider giving them a basket of craft making supplies or a gift certificate to a craft store.

Well, only two days 'til Christmas and we all probably have a few last minute projects.
Just don't get so busy that you can't take a few moments to say,
"Welcome, Winter!"
