November 2, 2012

     What an incredible week.   Hurricane
Sandy, Halloween, and BAM - it's
November!  How 'bout we wrap up the
week with some motivating Before and
     After projects?

This 1950s MidCentury Modern dresser has been given a beautiful
second life and, in return, it gives tons of storage and charm.

A traditional dresser receives a very nontraditional
treatment thanks to stencils and lots of magination.

After:

The attention to detail made this re-do spectacular:

Or, you could go 'another way' with the same dresser and obtain these results:

Before:                                                                               After:
                                                                                                                                                                                   bama bungalow

Lovely but dated, this elegant chair needed a sleek, modern makeover:
                Before:                                                 After:

                                                                                                                             Source

I've been hesitant to post the following project.  Most of you know
that adore natural wood when it is in good condition.  This Mid-
Century credenza is beautiful and I was rather surprised that the
owners thought it needed improvement.

                                                                     Before:

                                                                     After:
The purpose of a makeover is to enhance the piece and I do agree
that, painted white, it looks lovely in its surroundings.  I'm still a little
torn that the original finish was compromised but the new look is charming.

Drum roll, please!  You're going to have a hard time processing
this next amazing project.  How often do we see neglected vintage
coffee tables that just seem 'too far gone'?  (Prepare yourself.)

Before:

After:
I know!  Few of us would have thought to tuft the
damaged top but the results are elegant and sophisticated.

Let's take a moment this weekend and think of the millions of people
impacted by Hurricane Sandy.  Today's projects seem so trivial
compared to the lives and homes that have to be rebuilt.  Tragedies
like this week's storm remind us how truly blessed we are.

P.S. Remember to Fall Back when you set your clock Saturday night!

  3. I'm one of those people that have no qualms about painting a piece of furniture but I agree the Mid Century Credenza was beautiful in it's natural state.. My favorite has to be the blue love dresser!
Thanks for following my blog and I'm happy to do the same!
