SHOPPING  ALERT:  Many thrift shops, especially non-profits, also
offer Black Friday bargains.  Don't discount the potential savings!

Usually purchased in pairs, a single end
table can often be bought for $10 or less:

Check out the insert photo to see how drab these 1960
French Provincial side tables were before their dramatic re-do:

Who knew that a colorful treasure lay beneath the dismal
green finish of this Mid-Century Modern desk?

The period-appropriate chair enhances the integrity of the desk.  Classy.

It can be hard to 'pull off' a reproduction so the owners of
this coffee table went in an entirely different direction.

A little black paint, a few pages of printed material, some
Modge Podge: a coffee table that is as individual as its owner.

And while we're on the subject of coffee tables:

Better After
It's a sin to covet thy neighbors antique industrial loading
pallet table but I'm pretty close to sinning about right now!

The beauty, below, sat silently patient at the
thrift shop, waiting for a new owner with vision:
It was worth the wait, wasn't it?

This Queen Anne wing back chair was transformed from drab . . .

Do you have an unframed mirror that needs a little spicing up?
Have you considered tiling it?  Yes, traditional tiling can be
messy but not if you follow this ridiculously easy tutorial:

Julie of Simple Redesign is one busy mama.  Take a look at
the antique buffet she turned into a beautiful bathroom vanity.

Stunning!

Kids, I'm sorry today's post is rather brief but I've got to work off
a few Thanksgiving dinner pounds.  Think I'll skip the gym and
go straight to the thrift store!  Have a great weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 27, 2013

Who can't use a few last minute Thanksgiving décor ideas?

A little black paint turns a pumpkin into a menu board:

Stacked pumpkins make a simple table topiary:

Real vs. synthetic?
Either one will do but by investing in craft
store leaves you can use them year after year.

The little bamboo placemat makes
this grouping even more organic.

Gotta be honest with you - I've never handled an artichoke in my
life.  But this votive makes it look less intimidating, doesn't it?

A little note to express your appreciation of each
guest also serves as a name card for seating.

You can't get much simpler than this, can you?

Who knew peanuts and moss make such a charming combination?

A simple bow suffices for more casual dining:

Dried tree branches, construction paper, a mason jar and twine
are all you need to make a Thankful Tree.  Have guests write what
they're thankful for and hang their thoughts on the 'tree'.

Amen!

Do your Thanksgiving plans include young
children who might need to be entertained?

Put those little hands to work making cute, edible Gobbler Goodies:

TIP:  a can of icing is almost as efficient as a glue

Darling little waffle cone cornucopias!
Here's how to make the waffle cones curve:
Dip the tip of the waffle cone in warm water for about 10 seconds
then microwave for10 seconds. Roll the softened end of the cone
around a wooden spoon handle then hold in place for 10 seconds.

Chocolate covered Oreos, chocolate covered pretzels,
googly eyes, candy corn - some of my favorite ingredients!

Bitz 'n Giggles

Aren't these cupcake simply darling?
Make. Bake. Celebrate!
The corn cupcake on the back row was created with yellow frosting
and a string of Dental Floss stretched across the top to make the corn
buds.  I'm having trouble figuring out how they made the green beans.

An ice cream scoop of chilled peanut butter
is the basis for these prickly turkeys:

Tuesday's Miss Money Pitt Update:
The maligned little downstairs bathroom is 95% complete and we didn't
have to conduct the exorcism that we had scheduled.  Seriously, at one
point, I thought hubby was going to leave it gutted and nail the door shut!

I'm excited to announce:  Moving Day is Dec. 4th!
