What does a city girl know about raising chickens?  Not much.
But I know I want one of these darling coops in my backyard!

Which of these next three adorable coops
from Backyard Chickens is your favorite?

So elegant.  Love the cupola.

Forget the chickens, I want this for my
own personal space.  No boys allowed!

A coop and a corral for the miniature pony I wanted as a little girl.
(Got a Schwinn instead.)

Don't these chickens look peaceful and content?
We all know that happy hens produce the best eggs.

  1. I do like the very elegant one, which the dog appears to be guarding! As I type this I can hear my neighbours chickens, they seem to be competing with one another to see who can be the loudest! Funny though, it isn't an annoying noise.

  2. Love this POST! My FAVORITE COOP is the Victorian/cottage with the tower. A light is on inside. Looks so welcoming! The slanted roof one (white with the turquoise mailbox)came in right with it! From one sweetie to another~~~Roxie

  3. Wonderful selection of coups, they sure have come along way over the years. I would love to have one in our back yard but I'm guessing our HOA would have a thing or two to say about it. -My Rose Cottage

  4. All of our retired neighbors probably wouldn't take to the idea of having a rooster wake them up at dawn! Plus, we have enough problems keeping the pooches out of the jaws of the local alligators. I hear they love hot wings!

    1. You're right - most of them would make darling playhouses.

  6. Great pics. Side-question: Do chickens stay outside in their coups during the winter? Wouldn't they freeze? Just wondering. Love, The City Girl
