Prepare yourself for some astounding news:

According to The Daily Mail a study found that women spend almost an hour a week just picking out something to wear each day. That's almost 50 hours a year spent staring at our clothes.  Hmmmm. . . . .
Maybe we can speed up the process.

You know where this is going - The Big O.
Yes, Organization.

According to Ginny Snook Scott of California Closets
women wear only about 20% of the clothes in their closets.

So this tip shouldn't surprise you:  the first step to getting organized is to
throw away your clothes.  Well, the clothes that you don't wear.
Okay, don't throw your unwanted clothes away -
sell nicer pieces on eBay, donate them to charity,
or give things you don't wear to friends.

Hang your jeans on shower hooks instead of hangers.

Invest in quality hangers and spray paint them,
assigning seasonal clothes to different colors.

Use pants hangers to keep your boots off the floor.
Not only does this keep the boots paired, it keeps
them in better condition.

Ultra-slim hangers give you lots of extra inches,
especially important in small closets.

Use hangers to keep scarves organized.

Affix wheels to old drawers to provide
extra storage space under your bed.

Remove your closet doors - you're more prone to
keep the closet organized if it's always visible.

Think of your closet as a gallery, not just
as a place for your clothes to 'hang out.'

Less is more - more time to spend doing other things than
trying to figure out what to wear.  So think about downsizing as
a way to get organized.  Like chocolate, being organized is
addictive once you get use to having everything where it's suppose to be.

  3. Great post. I know that's true about only wearing 20% of what you have. I keep wearing the same thing, over and over again because I like it, so if it hung in the closet a full season and I didn't put it on once, it goes in the donation bag and its out of here.

  4. Oooh - I like the idea of using hangers for boots. My boots are always getting separated in the chaos on the wardrobe floor. Jx

  5. Jan, I just reorganized my closet. I try to do this twice a year. I still stand in front of my clothes each morning trying to decide what to wear. I think it is just something we do. I hope you are having a good week. Bonnie
