Have you ever wondered how bunnies became associated with Easter?
The Discovery Channel did some investigating and seems to have reached the most reasonable and accepted explanation. 13th century pre-Christian Germans worshiped gods and goddesses. Eostra, their goddess of Spring and fertility, was honored on the Vernal Equinox and her symbol was the rabbit.
Pagan Spring rituals and Christian resurrection tradition melded as Roman Catholicism became the dominant religion in Europe by the 15th century.
The Christian German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania brought their traditions of rabbits and colored eggs to America. The rest is history.
fleaChic usually features Before & After projects on Fridays but today
we're deviating from the norm. On this Good Friday we're going to
view different photos and paintings of humble and adorable bunnies.
